His Not-So-Secret Past

As much as I enjoyed Peter Margasak's article on the fine guitarist Duane Denison [Post No Bills, November 23], I couldn't help but notice the glaring omission of "vocalist for multiplatinum-selling proto-rap-metal band Faith No More" from the resume of Duane's new bandmate Mike Patton.

Maybe it was really poor reporting, or maybe that little factoid didn't dovetail nicely with the feelgood indie spirit of the piece.

While I do think it's great that Mr. Patton has turned a couple hundred kids on to the music of John Zorn, I think his real lasting impact on modern music will be as the guy who kicked open the floodgates for crap like Limp Bizkit.
