In writer-director Stephen Cone's new play, a married couple's Christmas holiday is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of the wife's first husband, a convicted pedophile recently released from prison--or maybe it's his ghost, seeking absolution. Cone waits too long to introduce some crucial background information, which if delivered earlier would have prepared us for the resolution and increased its impact. It's a misguided choice that also leaves his capable performers no recourse but to recite their introspective lines as if we had a clue about their significance to the story. Through 9/10: Thu-Sat 8 PM, Sun 4 and 7:30 PM, Side Project Theatre, 1439 W. Jarvis, 773-973-2150, $12-$15 ($30 Thu 8/24, includes preshow dinner and postshow drink).
