The 12th-century affair between Heloise and Abelard produced letters that launched 1,000 cultural references. Blank Line Collective's collaboratively created show revives Heloise in the present day: compulsive and sexually frustrated, with a penchant for red wine. In this 45-minute piece featuring Amanda Lucas performing silently onstage while three actors remain unseen, speaking in voice-over, Heloise generates a He's Just Not That Into You-worthy cacophony of emotion over an Abelard present only in her memories. From her infatuation with his old shirt to her messy indulgence of orgiastic fantasies involving a mango, she lives a hell that's "nothing unusual"--just the same crazed moment repeated over and over. Lucas is winning and raw as the unstable woman whose affections terrify. --Marissa Oberlander
