Dear editor,

In response to Julie Sherman's letter regarding the October Critical Mass bike ride (City File, March 13), I find it disconcerting that Ms. Sherman would be angrier at bicyclists breaking traffic laws using 30-pound silent, zero-emission vehicles to create awareness and safety than at the enraged motorists breaking traffic laws using 3,000-pound noisy, poisonous vehicles to purposely intimidate her after a mere two-minute delay.

Her letter illustrates the very reason the other 150 bicyclists chose to disobey traffic signals: to keep together. As a mass we're empowered; alone we're endangered.
