Hazardous and Unhealthy

The residents of a Greek village are thrown into turmoil when a truck driver shows up claiming to be their long-deceased World War II hero. The legendary man was wounded while saving several dozen villagers from the Nazis, fell into a massive ravine, and was presumed dead; the appearance of the truck driver, who insists he survived, threatens to expose some of the town's darkest secrets. A strong ensemble cast compensates for the occasional awkwardness of director Antonis Papadopoulos, making this 2003 drama an engaging look at the perils of communal hero worship. In Greek with subtitles. 93 min.
