Hall Pass

Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson star as long-married suburbanites who persuade their wives to grant them a therapeutic week off from their vows so they can chase other women. The basic premise has already generated two indie rom-coms—Katie Aselton's The Freebie and Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones's Breaking Upwards—though, this being a big-studio release from Peter and Bobby Farrelly (There’s Something About Mary), the idea has been spun out to its fullest comic potential and the ultimate endorsement of monogamy is even more predictable. As in Breaking Upwards, the best joke here is that the wives (Jenna Fischer, Christina Applegate) wind up getting more action during the marital recess than their hapless hubbies. With Richard Jenkins.
