Re: “Walnut Room

Ever since the last chef Mike Goodwick quit, this place has fallen apart. I use to enjoy dining in the walnut room with my neice and nephew. Not any more. The food is terrible, over priced and the service isn't any better. The hostess was an absolute horror, rude, and inconsiderate of my friends' walking disability. I doubt I willever dine at the walnut room again. Especially with the atood cafe across the street. That pot pie is to die for, not this milky glop at field's. I have had better service at the d.m.v.

They have a new chef and a new menu after 21 plus years.
the new menu was a pleasent change from the old menu.
all of our food was beautiful and tasteful. One of the ladies in our party tonight is a strict (some times violent) vegan. She asked for the chef to be summoned from the kitchen to assist her with her selection.
She told him of her expectations and asked for his help. He flirted with her a bit and put her at ease that no animal matter would come near her food. He made her a sweet potato risotto with a fresh pea sauce and some baked vegetables and balsamic vinegar. It was brilliant, not even listed on the menu. He even sent out brand new silverware still in the sealed wrapper just for her. She was in heaven. For dessert he made her a baked pear with lemon juice and sugar. I had no idea vegan food could be this delicious. The chef made my friend enjoy eating out again. We will definetly return to this steak and seafood joint with my vegan friend again. Our overall experience was exceptional, expensive but well worth it.
