Whole Foods FlavorFest

Jonquil Park

1023 W. Wrightwood

This weekend Whole Foods is offering "more samples than you can shake a stick at" as part of its two-day FlavorFest in Jonquil Park, near DePaul. More than 50 vendors--among them Horizon Organic, Applegate Farms, Seventh Generation, and Kitchen Aid--will ply guests with snacks and send them home with product; the first 2,500 through the gate even get free tote bags to carry their loot. In addition there will be cooking demonstrations by Rick Bayless and Chicago Diner's Jo Kaucher, a workshop on "New Uses for Old Things" sponsored by Real Simple, and live music from Cracker, the Paul Green School of Rock, Naked Eyes, and A Flock of Seagulls. FlavorFest runs 11 AM to 9 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 8 PM on Sunday; there's a $5 suggested donation. --Megan Roberts
