Family, Suspense/Thriller
A cabdriver who emulates Bruce Lee moves into a dreary flat that's been the scene of two tragedies. He's not afraid of ghosts, he tells a nosy neighbor, yet he begins to deteriorate emotionally, partly because of his involvement with a battered wife who kills her husband. This sluggish South Korean psychodrama (2001) by first-timer Yoon Jong-chan has elements of a classic ghost story: mysterious figures appearing in the distance, the nearly deserted building where most of the (in)action unfolds. But the stylish visuals are more compelling than Yoon's murky script, whose payoff doesn't really involve the supernatural. In Korean with subtitles. 109 min.
Director: Charles Lazer and R.L. Stine
Cast: Daniel DeSanto, Annick Obonsawin, Elias Zarou, Afrah Gouda, Gerry Mendicino and Peter Jarvis
