The few pointed moments in Eric Simon and Mishu Hilmy's diluted social satire show how great things might have been. It's September 11, 2039, and the handful of U.S. army personnel still stranded at Guantanamo Bay stage a morning talk show before omnipresent security cameras. Two of their guests are bent, broken detainees. One does crafts, making paper airplanes from "papers my lawyer never reads." The second does stand-up detailing the prison's unconscionable conditions, punctuating his gags with "I get no rights" a la Rodney Dangerfield. It's harrowing, hilarious stuff. Everything else misses the point, focusing on the soldiers' distress and their D-list celebrity guests' vapidity. Under Kyle Dolan’s slack direction, the cast spent most of opening night searching in vain for comic timing. –Justin Hayford
