Goin' South

A curious comedy western, directed by and starring Jack Nicholson, that goes nowhere in particular. Nicholson can't quite get the hang of directing himself: as a tenuously reformed outlaw, he's all squints and giggles, speaking most of his lines through a coked-up nose. Nice opening shot, though, even if nothing else congeals; with Nicholson discovery Mary Steenburgen (1978).
