God of Gamblers II

Hong Kong comedy star Stephen Chow is like a frat boy eager to bombard us with bawdy topical one-liners and outlandish physical gags. His character in this 1990 spin-off of the Chow Yun-fat action classic is a small-time gambler with telekinetic powers who joins forces with a disciple of the god of gamblers (pop idol Andy Lau) to outwit a villainous pretender at the casino tables. Many of the routines involve nonsense patter, slapsticky card games, and over-the-top fights, and the Three Stooges humor quickly overstays its welcome. In Cantonese with subtitles. 110 min.
