Re: “Thai Avenue

This has become one of my favorite inexpensive Thai restaurants. The appetizers are all tasty, the crab rangoon particularly so. That tom kha kai has a wonderful sweetness to it and the tom yum kai is interesting with a little more tomato than your standard fare. The avenue kee mao (a variation of pad kee mao that uses egg noodles rather than rice noodles) is perfectly spiced.

Re: “Pizzeria Aroma

I go here regularly for lunch as I work nearby, and the lunch clientele seems to be largely business folks. The host knows me and most of my coworkers -- some of us just say "The usual" when we arrive and grab a table.

There aren't any freebee appetizers with lunch, but most dishes come with salads or fries (you can substitute one for the other). The salads are only passable, but it's not like there's a lot of competition on that front in the area. The calzones are some of the best I've had in Chicago, and are big enough to satisfy a large appetite. I'm partial to the meatball sandwich with provalone.
