Five fine actresses lend credibility to Patricia Kane's formulaic play about a group of small-town women. It's Christmastime in fictional Budapest, Illinois, and the gals have gathered to build their annual holiday parade float. Two are secretly having a lesbian affair, a third is carrying on a flirtation with the fourth woman's husband, and the fifth is enraged by a recent scandal involving the local preacher and Internet porn. The script is constructed skillfully but just a little too neatly--this is one of those plays in which somebody's bound to enter just in time to see a furtive kiss. But director Leslie Buxbaum Danzig coaxes first-rate performances from Amy Matheny, Adrianne Cury, Rengin Altay, Peggy Roeder, and the wonderfully offbeat Wendy Robie. --Albert Williams
