In Loving Memory (2005, 47 min.) begins with voices of people we don't see replying to innocuous questions about where they grew up and their happiest moments. Nearly halfway through the film the same voices begin responding to very different questions—and we realize that they're speaking from prison, most of them from death row. This plot twist should persuade even the hard-hearted that the condemned are human too, an achievement that by itself justifies the film; the sound track dominates the mostly illustrative images, which include lots of prisons. Also showing are three shorts, engaging experiments that haven't fully come together. The total running time is 83 minutes.
