The best of these short works by Columbia College graduate Eric Fensler focus on humdrum, unambitious lives lived in Laundromats, parking lots, offices, and fast-food hangouts. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday (2000) follows a man from his TV-dominated mobile home to his job checking fire extinguishers; on his day off he visits a friend to drink beer and watch TV, oblivious to the friend's interest in chess. The most dramatic moment in Shopping Mall (2000) comes at the outset, when a man flies a toy plane in a mall; after losing his dull sales job, he sits in his car crying. Less coherent are the more ambitious pieces, such as the nonnarrative Ten Images and the superhero fantasy . . . Comes Great Responsibility (2000). On the same program: Apricot (1999), Sharky (2000), Good Bad, No Good (1999), and Petter Elden's video Dead Men Don't Bite. 80 min.
