Fathering Event: \"I Thought My Father Was God\"

When: Thu., Sept. 17, 7 p.m. 2009
What does “father” mean today? Did you ever look at your father as a god? Why does God have a long, white beard? How are my kids looking at me? My husband? Their Grandpa? Hilarious, wrenching, miraculous. The Men's Media Network and Mankind Project Chicago host a free townhall-style meeting for all to share, learn and connect on what it means to be a father today. Community leaders, such as Beth Aldrich, Bharatiji Joplin and Rev Bob Thompson, will share father stories that touched and changed their lives. There will be open discussion on fathering afterwards when YOUR stories on how you look at fathers can be shared. We’ll talk about the ideas of God as a masculine figure, the “role” God plays in our lives as a father figure and the way that translates into relationships with children. Thursday September 17th, 7p-9p at 1900 W. Fulton, Chicago.
