FamilyFarmed Expo

When: March 17-19 2011
Phone: 708-763-9920
This annual confab of farmers, chefs, foodies, and others returns to the UIC Forum with three days of events: Thursday and Friday are for industry members, with Saturday reserved for general-interest workshops with topics ranging from "Is Vertical Farming the Future of Agriculture?" to "Antiques Roadshow: The Heirloom on Your Plate." Headliners are Sally Fallon Morell--the food activist gives the keynote lecture at 9 AM--and Stephanie Izard, one of a number of chefs leading cooking demos. On Friday night, a "Localicious" party features food from more than a dozen local restaurants, as well as music by Liquid Soul ($75). One-day tickets range from $10 to $125, depending on the event and whether or not you buy in advance; all-access tickets are $275, $225 in advance.
