In Brian Friel's play, truth is less important than the tales told by an Irish mountebank, his mistress, and his manager, who've toured together for 20 years. Though all the monologues circle around the events of one fateful night, each person's recollections are shaped by individual perspective and longing: you're drawn in by the mistress's hurt, the manager's awe and exuberance, and the faith healer's charisma. Mikhael Tara Garvey skillfully directs an intimate, entertaining evening for Uma Productions, made all the more intense by Brian Sidney Bembridge's claustrophobia-inducing set. Chris Hainsworth as the con man is best at bluster, Danica Ivancevic is openly emotional as his mistress, and James William Joseph is hilarious and heartfelt as the manager. --Jenn Goddu a Through 2/10: Thu-Sat 7:30 PM, Sun 3 PM, Chopin Theatre, 1543 W.
