The short, sad life of Warhol “superstar” Edie Sedgwick gets a compassionate treatment from the underrated George Hickenlooper (The Man From Elysian Fields). The craziness of Warhol's factory was pretty well covered in I Shot Andy Warhol (1996), but Hickenlooper is more interested in the complicated emotional texture of Sedgwick's relationship with Warhol, a compact that was rooted in mutual envy. Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce are excellent in the lead roles, though the picture is badly compromised by Hayden Christensen's risible impersonation of Bob Dylan (fictionalized here as one “Tommy Quinn”). The story's moral compass is fairly evident when Warhol tells Sedgwick's mother that Edie will be very famous and the mother replies, “What would be the value in that, Mr. Warhol?” R, 90 min.
