Dear Peter Margasak:

Your Sonic Youth review [Rock, Etc., July 28] was extremely right on. The Youth came out and rocked as if they had nothing to prove. Basically any other band in their position would have felt they needed to prove their worth headlining a festival where the majority of the crowd wasn't even born when their first record came out. To SY, it was simply another gig; of course "just another gig" for the Sonics is always an hour of revolutionary sound and feeling, even in a dump like the World.

As for the idiot reviewer who claimed "pretentious art-rock"--what good rock isn't pretentious? To rock, you must believe that you're a god!
