Every Beat of My Heart

This 1959 Egyptian musical features a striking performance by Samiya Gamal as a young dancer in love with a music teacher; its rather contrived plot has them encountering each other through car accidents and a foppish rival trying to convince the dancer that the teacher has fathered an illegitimate child. Some of the musical numbers are inventive, but cinematically the film is rather limp, the mostly static camera doing little more than following the action. Ahmad Diya' al-Din directed.
