ESPN ZONE HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL SPORTS SPELLING BEE COMPETITION 

When: Thu., May 28, 6:30 p.m. 2009
Timed with the 82nd Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, ESPN Zone will pay tribute to Chicago’s sports fans with spelling prowess as it hosts its second annual Sports Spelling Bee competition. Up to 50 competitors will go head-to-head to spell the last names of local and national sports figures from various eras. The 2009 ESPN Zone Sports Spelling Bee champ will walk away with a prize package worth over $1,000 including a VIP party at ESPN Zone with five of their friends, two Jim Beam Club tickets for a regular season Chicago White Sox game, an ESPN Sports Almanac and the coveted ESPN Zone Sports Spelling Bee trophy. Second and third place finishers will receive consolation sports-themed prizes. Those interested in competing in the ESPN Zone Sports Spelling Bee competition can email SportsSpellingBee@espnzone.com and include their name, address, phone number, birth year and the ESPN Zone location at which they’d like to participate. Participants may also register in-person by visiting the retail store at their local ESPN Zone location. Walk-up participants may be accepted on event day, if space is available. All spellers must be 18 or older to participate. The ESPN Zone Sports Spelling Bee is FREE and open to the public. ESPN Zone.
