Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii

The King enjoyed his last real blaze of glory in this January 1973 live satellite broadcast from Honolulu, seen around the world by more than a billion people. Drawn largely from his Vegas repertoire, the set is a mixture of tossed-off hits ("Hound Dog," "Suspicious Minds") and the heartache ballads that really captured his imagination ("You Gave Me a Mountain"; "What Now, My Love"). The NBC special that aired three months later drew more American viewers than the 1969 moon landing, though Elvis's rendition of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" probably qualifies as an interplanetary event.
