Martina, a director of superficial television documentaries, is assigned a project on tango bars. While researching a quaint dive called El Chino she meets Jorge, an older documentarian who long ago abandoned his own film about the joint. The two begin collaborating, and soon fall in love. Jorge is pessimistic about Argentina's economic situation but won't leave. Martina is torn between her love for Jorge and better job prospects in Europe. What begins as a simple love story gradually broadens into a complex meditation on Argentina's cultural and political history. Director Daniel Burak punctuates the story with bits of the interviews the two filmmakers are editing, to intriguing effect. In Spanish with subtitles. 96 min.
