You try to imagine the Sideshow Theatre Company meeting where E. Warren Perry Jr. said, "I have this great idea for a show," and the rest of them said, "That is so cool." And you wish you'd been there to say. "No, stop, please. You don't know what you're doing. You think, 'Wow, yes, we're going to produce Perry's comic history of art in eight vignettes running from cave painting to Andy Warhol, with stops at the Egyptians, the Greeks, Leonardo, Vermeer, Gilbert Stuart, and Whistler.' But you don't realize Perry has absolutely nothing worthwhile or even amusing to say about any of it, so he'll end up falling back on lame, tasteless jokes and desperate nonsense. He'll build a whole scene around Vermeer thinking he's blind when he's really only in a dark room. People won't laugh. They won't laugh for a full 90 minutes. No, stop, please." --Tony Adler
