Edgebrook Coffee Shop and Diner | Other Northwest | Breakfast, American | Restaurant
Nostalgia-heavy diner offering decent eats--when you can order at all.

Our Review

With walls overhung with pix of James Dean and Marilyn, Edgebrook Coffee Shop and Diner leans heavily toward manufactured nostalgia. The menu also dishes up the corn, exclaiming "Gee whiz . . . breakfast served all day!" and "Wow, great lunches too!" I don't think so: I had the laughable experience of being told "Sorry, we’re out" of more than half the items I tried to order (no corned beef hash, corned beef sandwich, turkey, club sandwich, chorizo omelet, or French toast). But what I finally did get was very good: crunchy, moist hash browns, airy pancakes, and eggs expertly done with firm whites and wet yolks. And my malted milk shake was supremely simple and satisfying. Frustratingly, the place seems severely short-staffed--on a busy Saturday morning there was just one counter person. I left a big tip, not only in appreciation for the sincere if harried service, but because I was told the cash register was out of change.
