Re: “Sunrise Cafe

After passing this neighborhood diner many times, I stopped by for breakfast/lunch one snowy weekend. Although busy with a sizable brunch crowd, the waitstaff was pleasant and easygoing, providing coffee during the wait and accomodating our request for a booth. The focus was on classic breakfast and lunch food with a few Mexican specialties (huevos rancheros, tortilla "wraps" with choose-your-own fillings) which we didn't get to try this visit. The Smoky Mountain Eggs, four very decent biscuits with sausage cream gravy topped with two eggs and bacon, met my snobby Southerner expectations, and the grilled ham and swiss featured ham off the bone (a rarity) and good rye bread. The lobster bisque special was rich, but very tasty, and the coffee was good.
