To the editors:

First, I wish to compliment you and your reporter, Bryan Miller, on a very comprehensive article dealing with the Education Constitutional Amendment in the October 23 issue of the Reader.

I received a number of calls regarding the article, and the one question that was asked most of all was what the phrase "outgoing state senator Arthur Berman" meant. I hope Ms. Miller was describing my personality. For the record, I am running for reelection, I have no opponent, and therefore I am not going out of office.

Thank you for your interest in the Education Constitutional Amendment.

Arthur L. Berman
Illinois State Senate

Bryan Miller replies:

I obviously misunderstood one of Mr. Berman's remarks. My apologies for attempting to put him away before he was ready to go.
