Canceled due to illness. Duran Duran has survived a lot: the passing of the 80s, the departure of multiple members from their classic lineup, the passing of the 80s retro revival, and the burden of knowing that their 1995 cover of Public Enemy's "911 Is a Joke" is the dumbest thing in pop-music history. But while Simon Le Bon doesn't always have the best ideas, you have to give him credit for his unrelenting determination to keep the band working steadily even when it seemed most irrelevant—and as far as I'm concerned, Notorious alone earned Duran Duran eternal forgiveness for all the sins they can commit. Recently the band's had one of its periodic returns to form, connecting to a new generation of musicians who were raised on Rio—and they get many style points for having David Lynch direct a concert webcast. —Miles Raymer See Artist on Artist for an interview with Nick Rhodes.
