The characters in this collection of improvised two-person scenes simply sit side by side and open up to each other. But Colleen Doyle and Jason Shotts invest their interactions with the excitement of discovery. At the show I saw, the suggestion of "beer" led to a man and his girlfriend revealing secrets about their checkered drinking pasts; meanwhile, the man's dad, apprehensive about meeting his son's girlfriend for the first time, bonded with an emotionally damaged postal worker who wished she had a son. A leisurely pace and minimal physicality--well-placed hands on shoulders and uncomfortable high-fives say a lot--lend an air of intimacy to the conversations. Though early scenes could use a kick-start, it's not hard to feel the love. --Steve Heisler
