When she performs her monologues Marcia Wilkie has an enduring girl-next-door quality--not the sweet, pink-ruffles type of girl, but the goofy one who always made everyone laugh and never seemed to care about boys. Duck, Duck, Goose, a collection of sketches from her past shows Close-at-Hand and Hers, showcases intelligently chosen pieces centered on a wide variety of characters--from a nun in a psych ward to a mom with a pop-music sentimentality--as well as more confessional stories about gay love. In her best stories Wilkie's self-deprecating wit, eye for poignant details, and compassion combine to make you burst out laughing one moment and break your heart with sympathy the next. Live Bait Theater, 3914 N. Clark, 871-1212. Previews Thursday and Friday, October 1 and 2, 8 PM. Free. Opens Saturday, October 3, 8 PM. Through November 1: Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 PM; Sundays, 7 PM. $8.
