An expert dry cleaner in a small French town shows less interest than his wife in pursuing an unconventional relationship with a young female impersonator, whose nightclub performances blur the line between camp and mystery. This somewhat complex moral tale about the dangers of repression is an eerily persuasive if at times nonrealistic examination of sexual and work ethics and the nature of opportunism. Director Anne Fontaine wrote the screenplay with Gilles Taurand; with Miou-Miou, Charles Berling, and Stanislas Merhar.
