Since 2004 Plastic Crimewave (aka Steve Krakow) has used the Secret History of Chicago Music to shine a light on worthy artists with Chicago ties who've been forgotten, underrated, or never noticed in the first place.

  • Kahil El'Zabar released this Ethnic Heritage Ensemble double album last month.
  • A promotional video for the album Be Known
  • The trailer for the 2014 El'Zabar documentary Be Known
  • The Ritual Trio released an album with Archie Shepp in 1999.
  • The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble recorded this live album in 1987. El'Zabar is the only member remaining from that time period.
