The title character is a little too fond of hearing himself talk in this work, the third-act dream sequence from George Bernard Shaw's Man and Superman. Though Terence Gallagher is charming as Don Juan in ShawChicago's staged reading, Adrianne Cury, Michael McAlister, and Tony Dobrowolski are saddled with long bouts of listening, which they interrupt only to offer Don Juan the occasional challenge, prompting his next windy rumination on love, death, marriage, morality, or courage. These veteran actors perform eloquently, and they clearly enjoy the script's clever debate on the respective virtues of heaven and hell. But listening to their philosophical thrusts and parries without any action or reason to care proves dull. Through 2/6: Sat-Sun 2 PM, Mon 7 PM, Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn, 312-409-5605, $15.
