Dining Out in Champaign-Urbana

Dear editors:

In the "These Parts Visitors' Guide" in your July 1 issue, Mike Ervin really missed the boat declaring Garcia's Pizza the best food experience in Champaign-Urbana. The reason the decor appeals mostly to students is because so does the pizza, particularly to underclassmen. Sometime during college, as one's taste buds become more enlightened, true pizza connoisseurs discover Papa Del's at Second and Green. Just ask the alumni on any football weekend why they stand in line for an hour just to get inside Del's. As the saying goes, "It's Pop's for Pizza, or Nothing at All!"

Also, equally important to the culinary experience in Champaign is the fish sandwich at Deluxe Lunch and Billiards on Fifth and Green, served only on Friday and Saturday.
