Director Serge Bard took his title from a piece of graffiti scribbled on a wall that essentially said, “Help us, destroy yourselves.” This rebellious feature, shot in Nanterre around May 1968 at Bard's former university, launched a series of (mainly) oppositional and experimental works in the late 60s, known as the Zanzibar films and financed by French heiress Sylvina Boissonnas.
