For this 2004 video documentary, Julie Gustafson and her crew followed five New Orleans teenage girls at risk: a single mom from blue-collar suburban Belle Chasse, two black girls from the Desire housing project in the lower Ninth Ward, and two upper-middle-class high school girls, one white and the other Chinese-American. All five were given video cameras to document the dilemmas facing them as they explore their sexuality and pursue their life goals; the last of them seems most likely to succeed in the world and also turns out to be the best video maker. This ethnographic study is nothing special, though it has some value as a photographic record of the city before Katrina hit. 82 min.
