"Losing the War" [by Lee Sandlin, March 7 and 14, 1997] is the most important thing I've read in the last year. It is the only thing of value I've seen in print in the last three weeks. I realize you must be getting a lot of mail about it since [an excerpt of it aired on] This American Life, but I wanted to let you know that whoever published that piece deserves a great deal of credit, and Lee Sandlin should be secretary of state.
