The inaugural Dave Matthews Band Caravan posts up on the lakefront Fri-Sun 7/8-7/10. Part tour, part festival, part celebration of the DMB's 20th anniversary, the caravan hits four cities this summer; this is its only midwest stop. Gates open at 11 AM each day, and the Dave Matthews Band headlines all three nights. Friday's show also includes O.A.R., Ray LaMontagne, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Drive-By Truckers, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Daniel Lanois's Black Dub. Saturday's lineup features Kid Cudi, Ben Folds, Umphrey's McGee, Liz Phair, the Yonder Mountain String Band, Vieux Farka Toure, Bombino, and more. And on Sunday David Gray, the Flaming Lips, Emmylou Harris, the Jayhawks, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, the Jeff Coffin Mu'tet, and the Wailers are all among the supporting acts. The festival grounds are at 85th and Lake Michigan, on the former site of U.S. Steel's South Works—renamed "Lakeside" for the occasion. Three-day passes are $195 and single-day tickets are $85; a number of different VIP packages are available, at varyingly ridiculous prices. For more information, see Fairs & Festivals listings by day, call 800-594-8499, or visit dmbcaravan.com.
