The acerbic comedian hosts a block party in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, with musical performances by Common, Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Kanye West, Jill Scott, Dead Prez, Big Daddy Kane, the Roots, and the reunited Fugees. It's a hell of a show, though none of the artists gets more than a single number, and most of Chappelle's comic interludes are half-baked. Funnier and more engaging are his perambulations around the neighborhood (including a visit to the day care center that once looked after the Notorious B.I.G.) and his attempts to give away tickets in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) directed, though his work here is nondescript. R, 100 min.
