This gibbering wreck of a horror movie sat on the shelf for two years before Dimension Films quietly released it to multiplexes on Christmas weekend 2004, apparently hoping to catch some runoff from the other screens. An American family in Spain tries to cope with the father's neurological illness and various unexplained phenomena in its old dark house. As in most bad horror flicks, intimations of unspeakable evil are supposed to distract us from the yawning gaps in story logic and character motivation. Jaume Balaguero directed; with Anna Paquin, Lena Olin, Iain Glen, and Giancarlo Giannini. PG-13, 102 min.
