Dear Editor,

I was delighted with Mike Ervin's article about the collaboration of my dance company, Dance Detour, with dancers from the Joffrey Ballet and Bryant Ballet [Our Town, April 11]. It really captured the spirit of how dancers with and without wheelchairs can reach an entirely new artistic realm of movement together. The story profiled our work in rehearsals for an exciting upcoming benefit performance for Access Living this May 22 at Navy Pier's Skyline Stage.

Since the article appeared, I've had quite a few inquiries from people who were intrigued by the story, and would like to attend the benefit performance we're working on. But from the article, there was no way for them to find out about it, a curious omission for the normally very informative and complete arts coverage in the Reader. Like I said in the article, "You just have to see it." People need the opportunity to come and see it to understand the range of movement possible combining stand-up dancers with wheelchair dancers.

For those who would like to see us in this unprecedented performance, call Access Living at 312-226-5900, ext. 616, for more information.
