Cycles of Violence

When I read John Greenfield's piece about bike messenger-author Travis Culley's memoir ("Shoot the Messenger," March 30), I was deeply disturbed by Culley's acceptance of violence as an OK way to react to threatening car drivers. One of the great advantages bicycles have over cars is that, relative to the car, they are a peaceful form of transportation. I hope that cyclists can be true to that nature, and in doing so, draw more noncyclists into "being" on a bicycle.
