Four actors serve up an interactive whodunit over a serviceable Italian dinner, portraying cartoonish 1920s gangster-movie types—the ditzy flapper, the shifty hoodlum, the smart-mouthed private dick, and so on. And they're so low-key and welcoming, you just naturally want to play along. Handed hats, name tags, and secret dossiers, a dozen audience members become suspects in a murder that happens just before the Caesar salad arrives; the rest of us are invited to interrogate them and solve the crime. But the background narrative the actors leak to us is so fragmentary, it's hard to think up any meaningful line of inquiry. Hardly anyone tried the night I attended. I couldn't figure it out even after the culprit was revealed. —Justin Hayford
