Re: “Just a Gigolo

A witty and clever satirical stab at the slapstick and hooliganism and hijinx bumbling of the Nazi beginnings following the end of WWI in Weimer Germany. Taken from the perspective of ignorance and a lack of any real historic knowledge, the critics ridiculed this priceless gem of a movie. The satire itself recalls the beer hall putch beginnings of Adolph Hitler working as a walking beer advertisement and of course the opening of this film in Berlin was a bad choice that opened the floodgates to negative critique. The cast is formidable and Greek chorus (German Ladies) throughout the film make it interesting on that concept alone! David Bowie is superb and very good conduit when walking through the contraversial subject matter as effortless a Mel Brooks' The Producers. Not just of use to the ladies, Peter is wanted by the rival factions and dies in with each side later vying to wrest his body to their cause. When the end comes I'll know that I was Just A Gigolo and Life Goes on Without me! Bravo!
