Cornservatives (Am I Right?)

When: Fridays. Continues through Feb. 25 2011
Price: $10
This night of long-form improv is Shoelace Academy's prize for winning last season's Original Improv Gladiators competition, and they're sharing their good fortune with guest group Old West Family Photo. Both companies did a great job of weaving recurring characters and plot points through their sets, but neither ended bad scenes quickly enough. Old West opened to the suggested setting of a campground, and quickly careened from a spacecraft filled with probing aliens to a blizzard party thrown by a mayoral candidate running on the Fun Ticket. Building on the suggestion of "Rhode Island," Shoelace Academy had playful moments, but sketches about bottling talent as a fragrance and Big Brothers Big Sisters bombed. --Marissa Oberlander
