Sir Mikey Rocks has done got himself a deal! New Orleans MC Curren$y took to Twitter on Sunday to say he'll release the next joint from the Cool Kids rhymer on his Warner Brothers imprint, Jet Life. In classic Chicago hip-hop form, Rocks's deal comes after he's hustled for his main project for four years, released a grip of solo EPs and albums, and made plenty of cameos. Last month he dropped an online mix tape called Premier Politics—which, despite its title, is not about Chinese/North Korean diplomacy.

While trapped in this Wolf's matted fur, a little bird peeped that Cap'n Jazz/Joan of Arc guitarist Victor Villarreal has a new solo album in the can, due in January on Joyful Noise. Its lineup includes some JoA alumni—like Erik Bocek and Scott Shellhammer, who also played with Villarreal in Ghosts & Vodka—though no Kinsellas appear.

Halloween isn't just about dressing up like a sexy human and getting candy. This year Gossip Wolf is trick-or-treating for rap mix tapes! Good thing Count and Moonie, aka L.E.P. Bogus Boys, are ready to provide; on All Hallows' Eve they'll release Now or Neva, and it's an event worthy of its own holiday. Dudes have been rattling Chicago trunks with their lean gangsta boom-bap for more than a decade, and like ZZ Top they've recently gone nationwide—cutting tracks with Mobb Deep, Rick Ross, and Gucci Mane, and getting props from noted Canadian child actor Drake. The new mix tape features production from heavyweights like J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Honorable C.N.O.T.E., and Frank Dukes. This Wolf is beyond E.X.C.I.T.E.D.

Keith Herzik—who's created hundreds of eye-popping screen prints and gig posters as well as this Wolf's regal image—has a solo show at the Hyde Park Art Center (5020 S. Cornell) called There Are Still Lofty Dreams, Meager Desires and Still Silliness. He'll be at the opening reception Sat 10/29; it starts at 5 PM and it's free. Tell him Gossip Wolf sent you!
