In 1960, JJ puts a picture of JFK up in his County Galway bar and tells his young clientele they'll be part of the New Frontier; one of them, Michael, leaves for New York to become an actor. Fourteen years later, Michael's back at the same bar to visit with his old mates Tom, Junior, Liam, and Peggy. They laugh, they fight, they sing, and, most of all, they drink as they try to reconcile their youthful idealism and present disappointments. JJ, meanwhile, has disappeared on a bender. Playwright Tom Murphy's script hews pretty closely to the progress and logic of drunkenness. Like Guinness, it's probably an acquired taste, but it has its good points, particularly Michael Dailey as Tom—once the most promising of the lot, now the picture of disenchantment. —Aimee Levitt
