Connie's Pizza | Chinatown | Pizza, Italian | Restaurant
Chicago institution serving pizza and other Italian standards.

Our Review

We've eaten at Connie's for over 25 years, starting when it was a lot smaller. The new building is well decorated and rather touristy, like an Italian catacomb filled with canned goods and antiques, and there's a nice patio overlooking a very large free parking lot, just like in the suburbs (in Little Italy, not far away, you have to use valet parking). While the pizza quality seemed to have slipped a while ago, it's now as good as ever and our favorite pizza in Chicago. On a recent visit my Caesar salad came before my portobello mushroom appetizer, which I found surprising. The mushroom was covered with cheese and had pieces of flatbread balanced over it—an attempt at innovation, but it looked silly. The chicken Vesuvio was pretty good. However, I think everybody else in the place, including a busload of schoolkids, had pizza.
